CAPT. KIDD'S BURIED GOLD.; DIGGING FOR IT NEAR PASSAIC. A CAVE IN THE NOTCH IN WHICH A MYSTERIOUS IRON POT IS BURIED--HOW THE KIDD ROGERS SWINDLED MR. M'NAB OUT OF THE VALUABLES.
Capt. Kidd was a pirate. Some people spell it Kydd, but this is wrong. He was a Kid, and a very foolish one, to hide his cash and then go away without it. He made much money in a legitimate piratical way, put it in iron pots with tin lids, and burled it. It is so said. [ END OF FIRST PARAGRAPH ]
