At one time, I bet that was a fancy house.

"...And in this room, watch the glow from this unique, old TV set as it turns itself on. Even without it being on a channel, you can still make out the sounds of a little girl crying to get out."

That's a beautiful old house. Defiantly a testament to the skill of what a real carpenter once was. They sure didn't think of running to Home Depot for everything.

Not exactly sure where that Cataloochee area is at......
I really enjoyed Maggie Valley and the old mill. If you get a chance to visit, before snow sets in, it's nice there.
Balsalm mountain was another place we would camp at, back in our "ruffin it" days......

Hello my old friend. You were almost there.. Cataloochee is fairly close to Maggie Valley but you have to drive down about 12 miles of very narrow winding dirt road to get there. If you're ever in the area again it's a must see. This time of year during the rutting season is the best.. These were taken in Cataloochee last October.

The Cataloochee section as well as Cades Cove are kept up in good condition but left as they were and are open to the public to look at and walk through. I call that "being used for something"

I have traveled through Gatlinburg to Cherokee, NC and stopped at an old mill on the right side of the road in NC. We stopped at the old working farm on the left side too once you get down into the valley. We have been to Clingman's Dome, but the area you said this is, was one I missed, darn it!

Never, never, never go towards the bright light.

Cades Cove is a right nice step back in time place. I've rode through there many times and enjoyed every minute of it.
