✅ SOLVED Carriage Step Part?

Found near a late 19th century cellar hole. Also found horse tack and horseshoes. Could this be part of a step into a carriage/buggy/farm equipment. Note: I wire-wheeled the rust off of it. Thanks.

It doesn't look strong enough for a step. I would guess it is a handle and the hole may be just for hanging?

I think it's a lid lifter used to remove the lid on a pot atop a wood or coal burning oven or open fire.
