I’m feeding my sister’s cats while she is out of town. I decided to detect her yard a little while I was over there this afternoon. I’ve detected it before and started thinking how there probably isn’t anything worth digging left..... then I noticed her mushroom blocks had produced new mushrooms (shiitake, lions main, oyster). Then about 6 feet past the mushroom blocks I got a 13 on the Nox, turned out it was a little 14k band! I asked her if she recognized it and she said no and guessed that it must have been the previous owners (both deceased now). I guess cat duty isn’t so bad.....

Thanks for looking!

When I read "Cat Duty" I thought that someones cat had passed a gold ring. That would be a good cat to have around the house. :tongue3:

Nice find!

Sounds like the plot of a Twilight Zone: a cat that mysteriously retrieves bigger and bigger pieces of gold, until some crazy twist that I'm not creative enough to think of happens.

...Until the cat owner gets curious and follows the cat to see where the gold comes from... and gets hit by a truck. As the old saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat... owner..." Or something like that. Not sorry. :tongue3:

I agree with ARC, at first glance I thought this ring would've been an 18thc find.
Great pay for cat sitting,

Looks like you might want to consider giving that cat a Sardine dinner ! Great find.

That sounds about right. Also the cat is from an alien race that plans to eat people.
