Cellar dweller: Restored iron scissors, buckle frag, KG1...

I went back to an old favorite labeled “Bud’s place” on an 1760’s map. I’ve pulled some amazing stuff here but it’s quieted down despite a full Bramble removal. So I decided to hop down in the cellar hole and move some 75lb stones.

Not much, but enough!


Also found some buttons (not pictured yet).

Scissors restored

KG1 - rough but legible, I actually think it’s more like the 1717.

Ornate buckle frag.

My next move is to dig out the entire cellar hole. It had a lot of dirt pushed in over the years and I know it’s loaded.

Im more impressed that you have a copy of a 1760s map. A map that old would be killer for my area. Would love to know where the “common man” lived then as most of these structures are long gone. All thats left are the homes of the wealthy gentry

Jumping into the hole... my detector would just give a constant iron signal, you did some detecting magic to pull those keepers! Congrats!

Old is good!

300 years and over is my (ideal) personal target, so the KGi’s are right in that range. That coin actually pushes the site age back a bit. But even though the coin dates to 1717, it’s likely more like 1730’s or perhaps later. Cheers man

The map was a hand drawn one, and isn’t to scale, nor do the roads overlay. I’ve worked on deciphering it for 2 years and was a painful process of elimination. Bud’s Place was a small one, probably a single room. And you’re absolutely right, only the most grandiose of home are left today, or were even mapped.

Hah, thanks. Ole Bud has taken care of me over the years. In the past he’s had great taste between the Spanish facsimile cuff links, to his shoe buckles, so hopefully there’s more.

Blaze, if it wouldn’t attract the attention of the entire neighborhood, I would certainly get a backhoe. There’s a lot of guys with detectors in my county.
