Cellar dweller: Restored iron scissors, buckle frag, KG1...

I went back to an old favorite labeled “Bud’s place” on an 1760’s map. I’ve pulled some amazing stuff here but it’s quieted down despite a full Bramble removal. So I decided to hop down in the cellar hole and move some 75lb stones.

Not much, but enough!


Also found some buttons (not pictured yet).

Scissors restored

KG1 - rough but legible, I actually think it’s more like the 1717.

Ornate buckle frag.

My next move is to dig out the entire cellar hole. It had a lot of dirt pushed in over the years and I know it’s loaded.

Nice going on catching a date off the copper. The scissors turned out really nice, will look awesome in the display of old. You do realize that the other part of the buckle is still there probably further down.

Electrolysis, then a bath in hot wax.

Jumping into the hole... my detector would just give a constant iron signal, you did some detecting magic to pull those keepers! Congrats!

Haha, no magic really. Slow and steady, many angles, repeat. Move tons of crap, detect, move more. The iron is ever present, so I just dig just about everything. I’ve been lucky to learn a different level of detecting from a couple friends. Ahab8, OutdoorAdv, and a few others.These guys are animals and generally do more clearing time than detecting time. Nowadays if I ain’t busting branches and moving tree trunks, I ain’t working hard enough. Lol

Nice finds. There are lots of nice cellar holes around here i bet would have some super nice stuff buried deep inside but i just never got the time to do it. I always wanted to dig and sift at least one though someday. Seems every time i get any free time I’m off with the detector! [emoji2]
