Detector(s) used
White's DFX 300 Sunray DX-1 probe/ XLT Sunray XL-1 probe
I checked the cellar hole on my neighbors property today to see if the weeds had died enough around it to detect.
I have been picking at it here and there since I was a kid and have found some bottles and stuff http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,65179.0.html but it has been too trashy to hunt for the most part.
Well I have not had a go at it with my sunray probe so after seeing today that the weeds were clearing I focused on the perimeter of the cellar hole where there was less trash.
I found a Pin that was once silver plated

A stencil (I am going to see what I can find on the names)

A colgate shaving stick container (looking up the date on that one, any ideas?)

Someone kept some light bulbs in it

and two old flashlights, ones a Ray-O-Vac

I am hoping some coins pop up as I clean out a lot of the surface trash

Neat looking brooch, WTG!!!
I haven't seen a flashlight made like that one, in a long time... ;D
Continued good luck, & Happy hunting~

Nice bits of history. Keep digging because you know you'll find the coins.

The Colgate looks very similar to ones I dug at a WWI Army bottle dump, hard to tell from your closeups, going on memory of what mine look like, they are buried in boxes in the garage somewhere. So my guess is 1918 era..

I was just looking online and there are some of these tins on eBay. Most are from the time period you guessed, so looks like you were right. Thanks for the info.
No luck with the stencil so far.....

Great array of finds.
I work in historic homes and find stuff in cellars,
but usually don't get to keep much, and don't
get to dig, usually. :D

some cool finds for trash good luck and i hope you find those coins

Keep clearing out some of the larger targets and the coins will come. You've got some pretty cool stuff there.

Cool finds Donny, the pin is neat i bet there are some coins in there
Congrats

PSSSSST...I found out where there are at least 4 foundations from the 1800's maybe more...but there are alot of trees there so digging is gonna be hell..no one has ever detected there from what i heard and it's on public state land...sound like an outing to you

No I think they are tin but I could be wrong. They are quite brittle.
I did find the front part of one of them today

They made the glass thick on flashlights back then lol
I think I found the one it goes to, but the metal started to crack as I tried to put it on :(
