~~~Cellar Hole~~~First hunt of the years Reveals Spanish Silver~~~
[johnnyblaze]
What is up T-net
Finally had a chance to get out to a site right over the RI line in Ct
There was still lots of snow in the area so i had to concentrate on the spots i could hunt..
My first dig was this beauty of a 2-piece buttonI I have never seen so much gilt remain intact..Used some naval jelly
on it and it sparkles like crazy.
Then i dug this sweet 1773 Spanish 1 Reale..It felt good to see that Pickled Pepper on his face show up..
Hit the wagon road on the way out and grabbed
A Rosie
Weird glass ball thingy
Hem weight and other odds and ends.
It felt good to finally get out hopefully this will be a killer year..
Have fun out there
Blaze
SWEET recoveries JB!
Congrats on the 1 reale and that beautiful gold gilt button. I've never seen one like that before. Your 1 reale has my oldest coin (also a 1 reale) beat by two years.
As far as that glass piece, I think you dug up one of Marty Feldman's eyeballs.
Great looking detecting spot.
Could the glass be a marble stuck into something metal?
Nice finds! It must have felt real nice to score that coin!
Congrats on pulling that Spanish up there in Copper Land JB. Nice two piece flower button. Back mark wouldn't happen to be Benedict & Burnham would it?
[wagbert]
Good hunting Johnny! The Spanish reale is special. It was made at the seldom seen Columbia, South America mint. My old catalog has it at $40.00 in very good condition. Even worn, it is a desirable type coin.
The Button Is choice! Any idea what the round thing could be, pictured bottom center...could it be a ring?
Nice silver. Gives me hope that there may be one left for me here in CT. Now go back to RI.
I knew the weather couldn't keep you down for much longer JB. I really like that button & the Reale which shows much less wear than most. WTG Bud & HH, Q.
Great finds and what a great looking site to hunt! I love the peacefulness of hunting woods.
Beautiful looking site there!
Gilt on that button is great, and I love the old silver. Hopefully the snow will melt soon and reveal some more treasures...
