Hello All. Found these items digging with Btoots at (2) different sites. A 1940's house and an old golf course that closed in the 1960's.

The challenge coin is very cool but the Mercury Dime ring is over the top.

There are no markings on the ring but I know that it is 10.5 grams of silver. Don't see any like it on the net so I am thinking it is handmade and one of a kind.

Also got a '40 wheatie and two Tootsies.

Not bad at all for 4-HRs of diggin'. Thanks for the view and good luck. C9

That ring is too cool! Thanks for sharing!

Ahhh, sweet ring. My favorite coin image too.

That is one sweet ring !

pretty awesome finds

Wow , That ring is pretty special !! It is a "one off " with all that hand engraved ornament and the hand sawn out profile of
Miss Liberty & the bead setting of those Rubies (yes those are rubies ) is very nice hand work indeed ! I am actually really
"over the top " with this ring - very unique and wonderful find ! The obvious skill level of the maker argues for a professional
jeweler in my opinion rather than "Trench Art" . I've seen some decent Trench Art , but to see the bead setting , + the
quality of the saw profiling ,+ the engraving - kicks it up a notch !! Awesome Find !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Argentium. Thanks for the nice reply. Yes this ring looks like a "one of a kind" find. There is no engraving or makers mark which is a bit strange but I think that just adds to its mystique. I am hoping that the inlays are rubies as you say. How can you tell?

The golf course is long gone where I found it, very close to where an original green used to be. I can just see a golfer back in the day holding up play looking for "my ring, I lost my ring!" I am sure the original owner looked long and hard after losing it...BUT IT'S MINE NOW!

Thanks again HH and GL. C9

Color is bang on for Ruby- could Spinel but I'm sticking with Ruby ! In that size cost would not have been prohibitive either .

Congratulations on the finds!

The ring is beautiful.

Very nice merc ring!

I agree with this 100% the craftsmanship on this ring is outstanding... Really remarkable and I agree likely real rubies. 8-)

Wow that ring is a beauty. Very unique indeed

awesome ring!

That ring is amazing. Looks like it was made by a very dedicated home craftsman. Wouldn't be surprised if it was made by the person who lost it, maybe an artist or an armature jeweler? It has a very awesome homemade look to it. Almost professional quality but with a rustic charm. This is truly a special one of a kind treasure. :treasurechest::thumbsup:
