Change purse Cob ?

This large cob was in a change purse passed on from a deceased relative. There were a few Peace dollars a couple Morgan’s various half’s and small silver . I was just surprised to find this old cob in with the other more modern coins . Any info appreciated!

The assayer's initial appears to be "J" (1706-1723)

It looks 1715 fleet. It should almost be full weight. It has that "anviled" look that a lot of the gold cobs from Mexico have.

It is a Florida coin . At least the relative was living in Florida . No other relatives know anything about the coin .

They almost have the look of a "land find" as opposed to coming out of the saltwater.

When Don said "Use 27 grams for an 8R to determine its denomination." he was talking about determining if it is a half reale, one reale, etc.

27 grams is used for an 8 reale coin.
4 reale would about 1/2 of 27 grams (+-13.5 grams)
2 reale would be about 1/4 of 27 grams (+-6.7 grams)
1 reale would be about 1/8 of 27 grams (+-3.4 grams)
1/2 reale ................................. 1/16 of 27 grams (+-1.6 grams)
