I notice quite a few posts where XP Deus owners are having to order replacement charging clips.

Has there been any effort by the manufacture to address what appears to be a high failure rate with an improved clip?

Since I have a unit on backorder would it behoove me to order a few extra charging clips since they are also on backorder?

They changed the charging clip to make it more sturdy. That was probably a couple years ago. You shoud not be worrying about the Deus.

It's not an issue. Only time I broke one of mine is when I slammed it in the truck door.

Thanks!

Havent had any problems with mine. Then again I treat my Deus like the princess she is...

Ok this made me laugh, thanks Relicgrubber. The only thing I would change is that my Deus is manly and would be offended by being called a princess.

As for the clip question, I got my Deus in January (so it's new) and the clip does not line up well with the charging connectors on the coil. I have to kind-of push the clip forward (toward nose of the coil) to get it to charge. And yes, I have it oriented the correct direction (it won't work at all oriented the wrong way).

But as others have said, this is a minor issue that shouldn't keep you from buying a great - and princely - detector like the Deus.

My Deus is no princess. I treat it like the old work horse it is and never had any issue with the charging clip.

Just wipe the mud off before charging, all is good.

Mine has always been a pain to line up right and get the charge going, so I ordered one made by detecting doo-dads and it works so much better than the original. Pop it on and you're good to go. No fumbling, no wondering if you're going to break something. It just pops right on and charges, like XP's should have. It wasn't cheap, but having used both, it's well worth it!

Charging clip improvement

I modded my charging clips by cutting out the plastic strip and adding a spring with a couple of screws and nuts. Its now much easier to clip them to the coils for charging.

I always take my coil cover off before putting the clip on and this makes it much easier. I don't feel like I am pushing the clip to the brink of breaking.

And if you break one like did, a rubber band on it before the new one arrived worked well. Actually it would work permanently but I lost the rubber band.

My only observation is that the shortness of the clip makes it hard to squeeze onto the contacts. I took a dollar store pliers and zip tied the jaws to the clip ends and it made it a lot easier to do.

I just had a Detecting Dodads charge clip added to charge the coils on my xp deus and so far it has worked great and Easy to put on. It also displays the power going to the coil as it charges. (very interesting)8-)
