Took my brand new Manticore out to Galveston Island this morning and immediately knew my poor choice of sand scoop was gonna bite me in the rear. My $69.00 "already on sale" scoops cheap thin aluminum handle cratered on the third hole. I really did not have enough time to get familiar with the Manticore, but my first target was an incredibly small and thin butterfly "charm?" with a reading of 8 in Beach Low Conductor mode.
The Manticore found this tiny thin object at least 8" deep.

FYI, a top of the line $200 ss waterscoop can be sold 5 years later for $150 all day long.

I have a feeling this will be a great jewelry/gold nugget detector.

Thanks, but I am going to send that POS back and buy a quality product.

I always take along a spare handle, in my case a wooden shovel handle precut and drilled, ready to go. Same thing happened to me so now just a walk back to the car(not like that’s much fun) but if I want to keep going I can.

New scoop on the way with a carbon fiber handle.
I'll give it another shot soon.
