This is the sterling badge thing my buddy dug at our new permission, it look hand done and rang up a 97 on the Deus l. I’m kinda jealous, not gonna lie😂

What is the letting on the bottom?
 

that's awesome. I can't quite make out what the name or word is at the bottom. Appears to be a horse drawn fire wagon, so I'm going to say it's a hand made fireman's badge. I would guess circa 1880's. Amazing.

If I read correctly it says “hose” at the bottom, which lines up with your guess
