hey there fellow metal detector people...
i got a real nice surprise today..
i was cleaning up my recent finds.
thought one was a token..
real smooth and round. it had a brown patina.
i took an sos pad to it..still couldn't tell what is was.
i put it in a salt and lemon mix for 2 days..
scrubbed it again...
here is what i found...
i think it's an flying eagle cent..
this is my second top bucket list find, after a gold coin of course..
i did find a pretty cool tie tac.?
and a bicycle badge?
any info on these would be appreciated..
thanks for looking and happy hunting...
OWG....

Congrats on the FE Cent! If I gotta use SOS or any other means to bring out some detail to ID a coin, I do it- it certainly isn't worth much of anything anyway when it's in such shape to require that kind of scrubbing to raise some detail.

Congrats on a great find!
Ignore the crap posts judging your identity technique....
Some people can't post anything without being critical.

I do a few minutes of 1 amp. electrolysis followed by a "wet sanding" with Brillo on all crusty corroded lumpy gross un- identifiable coppers I dig. it worked on my 3 FE's that were worn beyond help---- and YUP, the cleaning gave me the answer---- without cleaning---just round crap. I will now join you with a blindfold and wait for the eternal banishment we will face from some diggers :laughing7: YA DONE GOOD, BE PROUD :icon_thumleft::icon_thumright:

Super finds, congrats. !!!!

Wow ! Flying Eagle is a tough find for anybody ! I really want to find one someday - along with a "trime" , any Seated Liberty coin , an Indian Head , and any American gold ( Canadian or other U.K. would be fine as well ). Congrats on a great find !

Nice find buddy! It is a bucket-lister for me also. Hope I swing over one some day! Don't listen to the dumb morons out there talkin sh@t!! They are just jealous! That is all. I found a 1921-D Merc dime a while back and had some yahoo running his mouth right away!! Bahaha, loser!!! Nice find my friend! Keep up the good work! HH

Nice find on the FEC! Those don't pop up often and nice to see them. Congrats and enjoy it!

congrats on your cool find!!!!

ROFL :coffee2: I've been attempted to use SOS on occasion.
I usually use a pencil Erasure.

the sos worked pretty good :headbang:

Amen to that. Hell, I've even used sandpaper before. My favorite is an ancient technique of an ultrasonic cleaner filled with lemon juice inside of a microwave.

To the OP - great find. I can't seem to find one of those dang FE's. congrats
