Maybe it is all sales appeal, in the mind of those who own breweries. I'm sure a different strain of yeast, probably could alter taste a slight bit. Not a beer expert so, don't really know answer to that one. But knowing, it originated from a bottle on a shipwreck of antiquity, it definitely is a strain over 100 years old. If you could get a bottle from a pirate ship, rightfully can be labeled as "Pirate Brew" and all pirates would drink it.
