Chemical test kit

Any recommendations, I have some small flakes and would like to know if it is plat, or alum, I have never used one before, does anyone know if you can test as little as a flake?

Crystal drain cleaner will tell ya right quick like-sodium hydroxide-al goes black/disappears and oro puro just gets much cleaner and yellower. LEARN TO GOLD PAN and then this question will never rise again -John

Sorry, I did not mean Alum. I meant Silver, I was thinking something else and I do understand the difference in the specific gravity between Gold, Silver and Plat.
