chevy truck latch?

I was told this is a hood latch for a Chevy truck but I cannot find anything like it on ebay or Google or the internet or anywhere does anyone have any idea what year it might possibly be so I can start looking at those pictures so I can find a model. I appreciate any help you can give me

Not sure on the model, but I think that emblem would be 1939-late 1940's, based on the shield shape.

Edit: bottom of this link indicates a narrower range of 1941-1946 http://www.bowtiebits.com/store/store_sub.cfm?Sub_Category_ID=8
-A period of reduced production I would think, due to the war effort.

1941 Chevrolet Accessory bumper guard. Nice one, too. You'll get several hundred bucks for that one.

It goes in the center of the rear bumper and folds down so the trunk can be opened. I had one on my '48 Chevy.
