Cibola Kicks it again, Civil War camp hunt

Yesterday, haven't found my brush to clean adequately yet. Bullets, buttons, a few modern coins, folding CW camp spoon that was found with a few nails and ration can pieces, bottom of an opium bottle, camp lead, glass, and a big iron whatzit. Any ideas? Took two pictures, the second it's "standing" on the end.

Congrats on the finds! Not sure about the hunk of iron. What are its dimensions?

Nice stuff! Spoon is really cool. Hard to say for sure, but your iron thing looks like a spline from a transmission that slides into the engine bell housing. Did you find any car or mechanic type stuff?

Iron hunk is about 2" across and 4 inches long. Haven't measured it yet. No other mechanical pieces around. I was thinking about the same thing but for a farm tractor, unless it's and elevation device for a cannon.
