Digging in and around a 1800's foundation I unearthed a very long bayonet. I was beyond shocked as this is not something I was expecting to find (will look good in the relic room)

Excellent recovery. Looks to be in good condition. Congrats on the find.

I think the majority of civil war bayonettes had a flat blade that ran perindicular to the gunsight instaed of oriented blade up like yours, just a guess but thinking yours is earlier...incredible condition though if no electrolysys done yet
