Guy's, a friend of mine found this last week and would like to know if it's genuine? It appears to have lead in it. Any thoughts would be great

Yep, it's real and right as rain!! Nice find!! It is an earlier version with what are known as "puppy paw" fasteners. I do not believe any puppy paw buckles have been reproduced. I once had over 30 variations of this type of buckle, yours although severely damaged is a great piece to find!!

NICE FIND ...

It definitely looks real but I've never found any civil war buckles so I can't say from experience if it is real or not.

Looks legit and to period. Congrats to your friend

Looks good congrats on a great find

looks real to me ..I'd be tickled to find it

Congrats on a great relic.

outstanding find!

It's real, nice find!

Looks good....now you guys need to find the rest of the CW stuff that may be there. Congrats

What does it have on the front of it,anything?

A Nice Belt Plate IMO.
I wonder how it got into the Condition (The Main Side Damage) it's in.
Also it's in much better shape than the last US box Plate I found.
That said I'm glad to find them in "Any" Condition.
Davers

Would occupy a prime space in MY display case! Congrats . . .

Nice its buckle time

Very nice find. They are being reproduced fyi. Yours apparently is fine.
