My friend found this this wknd.
The property was from the 1800's to 1940's.mill blacksmith shop and old one room school house.the school and dam is all that remains.

Based on the back, with a self-shank design and lacking a backmark, I believe this is a early 20th century fashion button, rather than a U.S. Navy button.
