The round thing kinda looks like a crude crucible. What is made of?

Pictures one and two: it's got what looks to be a lead coating over Pewter maybe? It's pretty heavy.

Oh my.. I think I know what it is. At the bottom of a spittoon sometimes they used to pour melted lead to stop it from tipping over. I bet the spittoon has deteriorated and all that’s left is the lead.
