✅ SOLVED Now I’m stumped…again

I posted this on civil war talk forum. I was assuming it was a horse mouth bit, half of one. They are saying it is not any bridle bit at all. So what the heck? I thought it resembled one only thing different is the square large part which would normally be round . Was found in civil war camp area if that helps .

Great ID Nathan...never would have guessed that, but I was a skeptic of the bridle bit....
