I found this on a Union Civil War campsite. It is a two piece badge with the pickback device missing. It is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It depicts a trefoil armed cross with a floral or leave border. It reads "Patented 1846 & 9". I had sent photos to a leading treasure magazine and after consulting experts, they couldn't positively identify it. It could possbily be a clergyman's badge (civilian purchased) or a fraternal pin of some type. Can anybody identify this for me please.
