Here's what Google says:

I took the liberty of strengthening shank (or metal thread) to the button. with super glue. It was ready to fall off.
I never find buttons but now I do, figure it out 🤔

Google shows me similar examples of an "indent button. If you closely look at the shank thing, it breaks off into what could of formed a loop. Anyone?

Is that cotton string or copper wire off the back? If cotton my best guess it’s a button off a pair of blue jeans/trousers/overalls/etc. not that old. Would guess 1930s or later. If it’s copper, it’s not a button, but I don’t know what it is.
