Civil War Finds From Hot Tennessee-Gun Tool, Buttons, Hoof Pick, & Bullets
I am happy to report that Dman's shoulder is improving daily. However, I am sad to report that he broke his foot last week and is in a walking cast. He considered going relic hunting with us to a Confederate Camp where Josh just last night received permission from the landowner for the "Trio" to hunt this morning but his doctor said he would be sorry if he did so he reluctantly declined. Maybe next week. Never a dull moment with Dman but he loves digging relics like we do.
Josh and I arrived at the farm at 6 am and hunted until 10 am at the CSA Cavalry site. The top row of relics in the first pic were Josh's finds from a solo hunt last week at a U..S. Cavalry Camp that he discovered last year. He hunted that virgin site last Summer and Fall and I wrote an article on his discovery with Dman as Official Photographer scheduled to be published in the August issue of W & E Treasures Magazine.
We recovered all the other relics this morning. Josh had the best find today with the gun tool which was solid and in remarkably good condition. My best find was the cuff size flat button with a "Superfine Colour" back mark no doubt brought from home by a CS Soldier. The other flat button was mine also. Josh dug the iron hoof pick probably made from a discarded wagon staple. We dug a few bullets-mostly round balls. Any CW relics found during the Summer here are fun finds in the hard, dry soil.
Notice Josh is proudly wearing his "Tenn. Trio" cap and shirt with his gun tool in the second pic. I'm working on getting that logo imprinted on Dman's cast-LOL. HH from the Tennessee Trio, Quindy.

The prospects of relic hunting cross my mine every single day here in Bama, but the bugs, snakes and vines are deterrents of enormous magnitudes. :P
