I found this thing near Del Rio, Texas. I dug it out from the base of a Mesquite tree. I'm not a history major, but I've done my homework. I think it belongs to Company D, 14th Infantry, stationed at Fort Clark, Texas. Circa 1860-1861 as Company D was en rout from New Mexico to Fort Clark, TX, then to Fort Pickens, Fl.
Or...I have no idea what this thing is. Can anyone peg this button. It measures 1 inch across, and appears to be made of copper. Thanks, rb24
