Sorry, but I don’t see anything Civil War in your finds. Keep at though, who knows what will come out of your spot.

Couple other notes to throw in the pot, not that I have the expertise to disagree with Fullstock. Our items were found approximately 2 miles from the Battle of Drainsville. The specific location was in a creek flowing in a small valley where two hills meet. Down the north side were a number of pits, embankments, etc.

It's a natural tributary Creek. There were small Union parties that came across the Potomac (just a mile north of the location) and pushed to Dranesville (two miles west). Would seem likely they would have passed through, but who knows.

Your advice makes sense. And thanks for acknowledging my lack of knowledge. I had not picked up a metal detector until a few months ago, much less joined a group dominated by experts (which is great).

I'm trying to get my friend to send individual pictures... stay tuned.

Brady, here are the closeups

Brady/others, here are closeups of a few of the items from the above picture.

They were found in a natural tributary Creek where small Union parties that came across the Potomac (just a mile north of the location) and pushed to Dranesville (two miles west).

My friend's boy would love to hear if any of his finds are noteworthy...

Thanks

The item at the top looks like a chain link from a farming implement. Possibly a manure spreader.
