Civil War marches

A lot of talk about the Civil War battles, but none on where troops marched to get from one battle to another.

I live in Oxford, NC. I have heard that soldiers marched from Durham to Richmond (maybe) and traveled trough my area. If this is so, I figure they had to camp somewhere around here. Ahhhh, but where

Anyone know of any info about the routes the soldiers traveled through NC, or Southern VA?

I`m not sure of the exact route they took but my g.g. grandfather Co. A 17th Ga. infantry was wounded at the Battle Of Wilderness Va. 1864 and later died from blood poisioning.
