Actually this was yesterday and Saturday. Two or three were found previously, but I finally got them all cleaned up and in a box, instead of a mug. Also got 1
eagle button with shank, and 4 ration can lids. Just the lids. IMG_0072.webp

sheesh, if I found one real CW bullet I would be thrilled

Sad story.....I have a 55 acre farm we have found CW stuff on and it's just sitting there waiting for me. I need someone to go with so I don't waste time going in circles. 55 acres would take the rest of my life. Just minie balls so far and my buddy found a US plate and a large cent, don't remember which year. Was pretty toasty.

maybe i can squeeze half a day on my trip, that would be a dream place to hunt

I have Saturdays and Sundays available. Most of them, anyway, but not this Saturday. Not kidding. There has to be more stuff there.

I am heading for myrtle beach on the 16th of feb
I will mapquest to see if maryland is doable

There are people who would die for a place like that. Great job on saving some history. Congratulations.

I have CW items coming out of 6 properties in 3 states. Doesn't get much better than that. Nice to be able to drive right up to the door and soot the breeze a bit before digging.

hey I got in line first, you can go after I find my bullets

I would keep it yourself and research and figure things out. Don't give your stuff away. Great finds and good luck

Congrat's on the CW lead and the button and the other finds. That is the way to Save some History. Continued Success to you. As already said, take it for what it is worth, but don't give your stuff away. These sites are getting harder and harder to find and these relics once found don't replenish themselves. You are very fortunate to have these properties to hunt. Personally, I would tell very few close friends that I could trust. Just saying. I like others here I am sure have been burned before. Be careful and the Best of Luck to you.

This farm is a total unknown. Will be interesting. The minies shown in the thread were NOT found anywhere nearby.

Nothing is unheard of. I have a uncle whose house sits on a hospital site of the civil war and he is a civil war relic detecting nut since the early 80's. The old timers before him use to tell him they would just keep the buckles and buttons, bullets leave the cannon balls by the fence line until the demand for them started to grow. They also use to study old maps and research everything. Good luck and i can't wait to see what you post next.

A couple of us are going next weekend, weather providing.

Nice variety, looks like 58's and a 69cal in the lower right. By chance did you find these in Frederick or Washington Co.? Just curious as I once lived near Sharpsburg and was lucky to hunt property like yours that was Burnside's IX Corps camps. If you ever need help peeling back the layers on those 55 acres, give me a shout and maybe we can meet.
