Went on an exploratory walk through the woods and believe I’ve stumbled across a Union camp site. Very little trash and lots of Civil War relics. Would love any input on the mystery items you folks might have.

Some mine balls, the .69 (very left) was a first for me, that thing is a beast! Another first (very right) was the middle part of a 3 piece composite Shaker bullet.

The soil was not kind to the buttons in the ground, but I was very happy with the Cavalry “C” cuff button (also a first for me).

A broken cavalry spur

A blown out cannonball fuse

A belt adjuster hook, an unknown buckle?? and what might be a camp made lead pencil (I’ve looked up pictures of these online and this resembles some of the ones I’ve seen).

Only coin of the day appears to be an almost destroyed Shield Nickel

Mystery Items I would love some input on;

Picture 2 (I believe this is fuse/artillery related...” Hotchkiss precaution fuse anvil cap” but can’t seem to find an exact match)

man those are some nice finds . take great care in how you fill your holes , you don't want to tip anyone off to the camp location.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I'd say you're sitting on a honey hole right there!!! Great saves Locke :icon_thumleft: Love the Shaler piece!

Sweet finds looks like some fuse plugs if thats a camp holy moly rip into that spot like a monkey on a cupcake

You did very well. I would go grid it out over the next few weeks and dig everything that even squeaks.

You’re found a good spot I bet you find a plate or two there. By the way, the spur looks Confederate to me.

Picture 1 is maybe a reins guide.
