Civil War relic in California!

I found this cylinder to a 1851 navy revolver in San Diego California near a Union trail, Union Camp, and a Confederate sympathizer capture site. The most interesting part of this find is that it was found where cavalry soldiers were after some research I found out that Cavalry soldiers preferred to use the Navy revolvers because they were lighter. How much do you think it is worth with all of this history behind it. And that it was found so far away from the main Civil War battle sites. I believe this is a once in a lifetime find.

A Civil war Museum might be interested in your find. No telling what they would offer you but I do know museums have a budget to aquire pieces. Especially the museums that charge admission.

Thanks so much! It was super exciting! It was 15 inches deep in the hardest ground I had ever dug in!
