I found this at at the site of a major Civil War battle in West Virginia. It is very heavy. It might be junk, I'm not sure, but I did find a bayonet, and a rifle butt plate right near it. The only writing on it is "V N 7". Are there any Civil War buffs out there who might be able to tell me if this is junk or is it a Civil War relic?

Lowryevans, based on my nearly 40 years as a digger and dealer of civil war relics, I can say that it is definitely not a civil war era MILITARY relic.

Objects manufactured for Civilian usage during the 1860s are not "civil war" relics, despite what a lot of sellers on Ebay want you to believe.
