Hunting a site this morning that was a part of Chickamauga.
Found an unusual iron piece that at first glance had a sword shape appearance. But it is thick and heavy. One side is flat while the other side is convex.
My foot in the pic for reference.
Any ideas?

I assumed it was a piece of farm equipment. The entire area was once farms.

Frying pan handle ?
I first thought a possible handle too since it is broke on the end but this thing is heavy and I ruled it out.
I can't imagine the pan that was attached to it, if it is a handle. But I'vebeen wrong before.
It was an odd find.
Allong with some bullets, I found what appears to be a very old, somewhat crudely made salt/pepper shaker cap.
The trash here has been either CW/turn of the century farming or modern can slaw. Wasn't much here during the in-between period.
