✅ SOLVED Civil War???

I found this piece in a farm field that contains Civil War items. Its certainly lost its original shape due to farm damage but maybe someone can venture a guess.

I believe that this is a smashed light socket from a running brake or tail light from a car or trailer. It has a slot in the side for push twist and keep. It only has one slot so I would think running light from pre 1930's definately not later than the teen's
