Clad layer anomoly - help needed

I found this half dollar a while ago. As you can see from the photo the clad layer has an odd 'switching' where the nickel and copper layers alternate on the edge. I've hunted over a million half dollars and this is the only one I've seen. Any thoughts on what cause this and is this something people have seen before? Thanks for the input.

I'd say it's a weirdo. Very cool. Likely little value. I'd pay $1 or $2 for it.
