I believe they're regulated at 8 volts. I usually change mine out at about 9 volts or so.

Thanks much.... Now if I could only mod it to have a built-in battery check.

You can buy small panel mount volt meters on ebay for $3. Cut it in and wire it to your battery leads after the power switch and your good to go.

Wouldn't that kill the batteries quicker by requiring power to the LED's?
