A vinegar soak works if you leave the nails submerged a couple days. They come out looking new.

What do you do after the vinegar soak? Do you wash it with water and dry? Are there any other steps before dipping in paraffin, if you want to preserve an ax head for ex?

I used to spray them with dull black paint after rinsing with water and drying.
