Cleaning Brass??

Any methods out there for cleaning brass. Today I fpound an identification plate for radio equipment used by the US Army Signal Corps with a part order number from 1942. Because the plate has information on both sides, one for a receiver and the other for a modulator I am assuming it is brass that was poured. I will post pictures after cleaning it up. Only one side has slight corrosion the other is almost mint except for discoloration. Any help appreciated.
