Cleaning of Pewter Spoons

Could anyone suggest how I may clean a pewter spoon that I found on a sandbar its black and corroded but I am sure will be great once cleaned up. It may be silver.

does pewter turn the same color as silver? If it is silver try some silver polish or iv heard of a method involving aluminum foil, but i forget how to do it Not sure about pewter, i think its just like lead kinda...
