I would say not to do it. I'd like to know in the years that have passed how you eventually cleaned them. I've heard soaking them in lemon juice helps. Also heard a few minutes in muriatic acid might help. I have quite of few 8 and 4 Reales I need cleaned. Might even sell a few as is.
