Anyone have any ideas? Found at a spot which dates from 1850s until 1980s. It’s brass. Found in central Va.

Solution
Are any of the edges broken? It's hard to know where the shape was supposed to end. Could it be half of a drawer pull? Not this one, obviously, but one made in a similar way?

Is the horizontal parts solid or hollow?

looks like part of an old oil or gas lamp wall mount bracket.
Thank you, and pardon my ignorance, but by chance do you have an example to share? I’ve never seen one in person, and based off a limited amount of googling I’m not finding what you speak of.

Interesting……hadn’t thought of that. I’ll look tomorrow. I don’t THINK it’s broken, but reserve right to change my opinion until after I look again.
