CN button found at flea market

bought a bag of buttons today at the flea market and found this in the mix.......I would appreciate any info you may have on this........front is just like the CSN buttons but only has the CN....I have seen a few of the cuff size buttons in my research but so far haven't came acroos a coat size.....back says "COURTNEY & TENNENT CHARLESTON S.C." thanks in advance

Marty, in Albert's book it is listed as a CS 75 Navy, similar device, CN below (the N engraved over the S) 2-piece 23mm.
Now, this is listed under UNAUTHENICATED "CONFEDERATES". In Albert's there is a long explanation, but in short, fakes, "too many differences preclude them from being considered authentic buttons of the Confederacy"

The way the paragraph starts out, gives me the impression they were made in the late 1960's by a London firm of Gall & Pearl, or at least some of the ones in this section.

In McGuinn's book on American Military Button Makers and Dealers; Their Backmarks & Dates, it has that series listed as fakes, but the CS 75 is not mentioned but the other ones with identical backmarks is.

I would have to think it is one of the later made buttons.

I just saw this. Don in SJ got it. They were made in the '60's. they are worth a few bucks though. I sold some on ebay, as repros in case anyone is wondering. They went for about $10 each.
