✅ SOLVED Coat hook or what?

Howdy,

Dug this item up in 2010 and have not been able to id it or have a clue as to it's purpose. Since then I have dug up a couple more but, in pieces.

Unknown metal - heavy(not lead) - 5 finger base w/hook riser of back - looks like a rooster's foot w/claw (kinda) - bottom length is 4in - width 4in - height is 3in,
Also, bottom shows what looks like might be possible screw holes. Don't know!

Any ideas on this item?

Yep crows foot battery for the telegraph. Look up beau omiuette on YouTube. He's found some nice ones.
