Well the reason I even said preform is due to the beveling on it which it looks very thin. North Blade sounds bout rite to me. Either way it is a sweet find and a very nice blade. I have only 1 Cobbs blade I found last year and the flaking on the piece is the same as yours scattered on 1 side and long strikes on the other. I say flip a coin :)
