I've been using my Prizm IV with 8" search coil on my own seven acre property and have found a few fired Minnie balls and a broken bayonet in the last couple of years. I usually search in the woods and fields here and stay off of my own lawn.
A couple of weeks ago, for something different, I scanned out in the yard only ten feet from the house. We built our house here only nine years ago, so I thought any signals there would be construction debris. I picked up a good signal about 6" down so I dug it expecting to find some copper wire or something. It was a nice suprise to pull out a dropped Minnie ball!
3 minutes later just ten feet away I located another good signal where I dug a dropped Williams cleaner bullet! Yeehaww!
I've been working this area hard looking for more drops, but I came up dry.
I had already ordered a new 950 coil, and was hoping there were more goodies just out of reach with the 8" coil.
It just came in the mail yesterday, so I spent 20 minutes scanning this area again with my old coil before I installed the 950.
Within 2 minutes with the 950, I locked onto a good signal and dug another Williams cleaner bullet, it was right between the other two finds.
During the next 2 hours I found another Williams Cleaner, a Minnie Ball, and two firsts for me,
A musket ball, and what I believe is an artillery cuff button!
All of these bullets were unfired, and everything was found in a 40' stretch.
Anyway, I'm pleased as punch with my new coil's reach. I will say though, it's a little harder to pin point with.
