Coil upgrading

I don't have a lot of money and I was wondering if upgrading to the 9 X 12 coil was really worth it. I'm primarily a coin hunter, how much deeper can it go?

The first coil to buy is the sniper. About $65.00
That is a coin killer! It goes deep - 5 inches is not uncommon.

Your welcome. You would only use the 9x12 coil on larger areas with little trash. The stock coil and sniper is a good coin combo. The sniper with the sensitivity set at 1 or 2 bars will get right next to steel supports on play grounds (swing slow). There will be lots there as I know of no other coil that will get that close. Set the mode on relic and dig all signals there - since it's easy digging. Once away from the supports crank the sniper way up on the sensitivity.

Khouse is correct on the best first coil being a sniper. Trashy areas will be no problem anymore as these are where all the people went. I would suggest to get every coil offered for what ever detector you have so you are ready for all types of hunting. Larger coils get deeper but they also cover more area under the coil to make short work of larger fields that may have been plowed in the past.
