Coin Beach whatsit

At first I thought it was a handmade sinker, but it is actually sheet lead rolled up. About 2" wide. Ideas or age? Found in the ocean where two 18th century ships sank.

it looks like the lead cap from a roof flashing..it goes around the vent stack..just guessing...
