Well I took my six-year-old to the tot lot with no intentions of finding anything cool. Just keeps me busy why she plays with her friends she had a group of three or four other little six-year-old Romin' around with her. One little boy took interest to what I was doing and started following me around I was showing him the ins and outs and he was really liking it. Got a hit in the mid 80s and told him it was going to be a dime. We popped the plug and directly underneath it was a pile of coins you would've thought that he saw Batman standing in front of him from the look on his face! He called all the other kids over and told them that he found buried treasure, all of them went ape ****. Hilarious! They are all Roosevelts so I wasn't too excited hopefully one out of the 52 is silver at least, but you know did a whole bunch of kids think they found treasure at the park and that I might have turned them onto a new hobby is good enough for me!

I love the way you described that boys excitement! !

I can picture those kids faces . I bet you made their day . Nice way to make the sport of MD live forever .

Cool Finds, cooler story!!

That is what started my addiction to this hobby of ours I followed and watched a MDer when I was a kid and it hooked me.8-)

Sound like somebody dropped a roll of dimes.

Nice. They r gna b hooked for sure!

I've had kids crowded around me so tight, that I can't dig. It's great, and I love to see their young imaginations running wild, but it can be a pain if you are trying to cover some ground.

Normally they lose interest after a while.

Awesome post! If you just saved one child from the clutches of video games and technology, then kudos to you! Like another member said, must have been a roll of dimes. That's pretty incredible!

Anytime you find $5.20 in one hole is a great day! Even if they're clad, they're still batteries :)

I think we are all kids at heart doing this - especially when you get a glimpse of a target that just might be 'the big one'..!!

cool find and story!!

"New recruits ". I love it!!! Congrats on your dime cache and new crew!
