Hard to tell what that is , "Argentina" ........I , you, most can read.

Maybe a Religious token but doubt it.

Patriotic Maybe?

Is it Silver ? looks like it.

A cool find & 2 cent is 2 cent.
GL with an ID.

It's not a coin. It's a medal/token issued by the war department of Argentina, according to the writing on the medal. Some one more knowledgeable than I will have to give more info on its purpose or when it was made

Intersting tommy.....congrats. very cool !!

No idea what it is but, it certainly is fascinating!:o If you haven't already stuck the pics in the What Is It section do so. We all want to know what it is!:dontknow:

TheNational Medals Factory of Argentina produced signature marks by Ignacio Orzali, José Bellagamba and Constante Rossi during the following periods:
- ORZALIB. and C. -(1894 - 1899)
-
ORZALIand C. -(1896)
-
BELLAGAMBAY ROSSI -(1899 - 1908)
-
C.and AF.ROSSI -(1908 - 1914)
-
CONSTANTROSSI -(1914 - ???)

The dual showing of Belleagamba Y (and) Rossi indicates a minting date of your piece between 1899 and 1908.

I bet that one got your heart rate up as you started wiping the dirt from it.

I love a find that begs questions.....Interesting find!

It's not worth much, intrinsically. But, it was the *only* one made for George Washington! Used as a ball marker in golf. :tongue3:

Thanks so much for your info you are an asset to this site and I'm sure so many people agree Thanks again ...Tommy

BTW, the words on one side: (what appear to be 'direccion 6 RAL detiroy gimnasia") are actually, in part, 'direccion de tiro y gimnasia'; meaning Shooting and Gymnastics.
So this is reward medal for that event.
Don.......

Very interesting and a great find, congrats! Very awesome ID research done my Mackaydon once again, he is another great asset to this site along with a few other helpful members.

Congratulations! Great find. Now that you know what it is the next question is how did it get here? From the university, the VA or perhaps a spy?
